Two farmers were arrested on Friday after police discovered an unlicensed shotgun and two cartridges in a wooden boat at Kurupukari Crossing, Essequibo River.
The police, in a press release, said that around 10:00 hrs yesterday, acting on information received, ranks conducted a search of a wooden boat the two men were in and they found the illegal twelve-gauge, single-barrel shotgun and two matching cartridges.
The men were taken into custody and are being processed for the court.
The police in ‘F’ Division, have recovered 15 illegal firearms thus far for this year, the police said.
