Study for new Demerara River bridge submitted

A feasibility study and design for a new bridge across the Demerara River has been presented to Cabinet by the Minister of Public Infrastructure (MoPI), David Patterson.

Minister of State, Joseph Harmon made this announcement yesterday at the post-cabinet press briefing

He said MoPI in association with the Demerara Harbour Bridge Inc had commissioned the Dutch company, LievenseCSO to undertake the study and propose a design for the crossing.

According to Harmon, Patterson was asked to identify key aspects of  the proposal that required immediate attention and agreed to discuss the study in detail at the next conference of ministers in May.
