Orson Gishard

Budhram had previously told this newspaper that Gishard and three others were travelling in the Kaburi River when they encountered rough waters and the boat capsized.

The dead man’s colleagues managed to swim to safety until they were rescued but were unable to save Gishard as the water “was pulling.”

His lifeless body was lifted out of the river late Saturday afternoon and transported to Georgetown on Sunday.

Gishard’s sister, LaToya Gishard, had related to Stabroek News that on Saturday morning, the management of the Ingrid and Brian Chase Mining and Trucking Service informed them of the incident. Later the said afternoon, she said, they received another call informing the family that Orson’s lifeless body had been found.

The woman had said that at no point did the company explain where her brother and his colleagues were travelling to or coming from.

Gishard worked at Issano, Mazaruni and had started working with the company about a month ago.
