No bail for larceny accused after new charges

Already facing a larceny charge, a Little Diamond man was remanded to pri-son yesterday after he was faced with new allegations.

Abraham Abu

Abraham Abu, 37, was accused of stealing a $140,000 ladder, which is the property of Ray Rahaman, on April 24, at Georgetown.

It is further alleged that Abu, on April 14, stole two vehicle batteries, valued at $77,000, which were also the property of Rahaman.

He denied both allegations when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail being granted. Moore told the court that Abu is in the habit of stealing things from persons and he has a similar charge pending at the Providence Magistrate’s Court.

As a result, Abu was remanded to prison until May 17, when he is due to appear before Magistrate Dylon Bess.
