Moco Moco miner murdered in Mahdia gold robbery

The police say that Homicide Detectives are making stringent efforts to quickly apprehend a co-worker who is the prime suspect for the murder of Damon Scipio a/k Rastaman, 56 years, a miner of Moco Moco Village, Central Rupununi, which occurred between 2300hrs last night and 0600hrs this morning, at BK Old Road Backdam, Potaro River.

Investigation so far revealed that the victim who was employed by a small-scale mining company at 111 miles Mahdia, was performing at the company’s watch camp, guarding a sluice box with two gold mats, when he was chopped three times in his head and once to his left wrist, the latter almost severed. The gold mats have been stolen.

The body is at the Mahdia Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
