The National Procurement and Tender Administration (NPTA) is seeking evaluators.
In an advertisement in yesterday’s Sunday Stabroek, the NPTA said that it is extending its pool of evaluators across all government entities which participate in procurement.
It said that the appeal is for persons with appropriate expertise and experience and who are willing to serve as evaluators. The evaluators will be paid a stipend whenever they are called upon to conduct evaluations, the advertisement said. Retired persons are encouraged to apply.
Interested persons are being asked to submit their name, address, contact information and a short summary of their expertise and experience to the regional executive officers of their regions or to the Chairman of the NPTA at 49 Main and Urquhart streets, or email gnptab@gmail.com.
The advertisement said that successful applicants will be notified.
The NPTA has faced scrutiny over evaluators for the large number of contracts it presides over. Critics have said that a small pool of evaluators have been in charge and many of them are in conflict positions as they come from the very ministries and agencies which are procuring goods and services. Furthermore, it has been argued that the system has been compromised by unscrupulous bidders. There have been several cases of such relating to the Ministry of Public Health and the George-town Public Hospital.
