Ganja field uprooted at Arau Mountain

The security services on Saturday conducted a drug eradication exercise in Region 7 (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), during which a quarter-acre plot of cultivated cannabis with plants measuring from 6 inches to 6 feet in height, a makeshift camp, as well as a quantity of dried cannabis were found and destroyed by fire. No arrest was made, a release from the police said yesterday.

A live 12-gauge cartridge and an identification card found in the camp have been lodged.

The operation was organised based on intelligence gathered and about 11am on Saturday the team (police and soldiers) ascended  Arau Mountain Top and successfully executed their plan, the release said.
