Better Hope contractor shot in robbery bid

Terrence Ramlochan, a thirty-one-year-old contractor of North Better Hope, East Coast Demerara who was shot in the upper region of the right side of his chest during an attempted robbery in front of his premises last night, is hospitalised at a private hospital, in a stable condition, the police said today.

Investigations, police said, revealed that at about 9 pm the victim drove up in front of his gate, exited his vehicle and was in the process of opening the gate when a male suspect armed with a handgun pounced and demanded cash and his cellular phone. The police said that the victim refused and tried to disarm the suspect but during the ensuing process, the suspect discharged a round which struck the victim who fell; thereafter the suspect quickly fled the scene.

The victim was rushed to the hospital by relatives where he was treated and admitted.

The police say that investigators are working on all possible leads to have the perpetrator arrested and brought to justice, soonest.
