A minibus conductor was yesterday charged in a city court with the theft of a car, which police say he admitted to stripping.

Donald Allison denied the charge that on May 11, at Newtown, Kitty, he stole the car valued at $1,200,000 and which was the property of Patriana Bristol.

It was stated by the police prosecutor that Allison, 31, admitted in a caution statement to stealing the car and stripping it.

The prosecutor noted that Bristol had parked her vehicle in front of her home and returned the morning after to discover that it was gone.

There was no objection made by the prosecutor in relation to bail being granted and Magistrate Judy Latchman subsequently granted Allison his release on $400,000.

The matter was adjourned until June 12.
