Nandy Park businessman found dead in apparent suicide

A Nandy Park, East Bank Demerara businessman was found dead in his yard yesterday with a gunshot wound to his head in what is suspected to be a case of suicide.

According to reports reaching Stabroek News, 59-year-old Cecil Persaud, a businessman who owns a lumberyard, was found at the southern end of his yard yesterday morning lying motionless with a gunshot wound to his head.

His family yesterday declined to speak on his death. Persaud had apparently gone missing on Saturday. A search on Saturday with other relatives proved futile. The yard was checked in an expanded search yesterday and his body was found.  A gun was found nearby.

The police are investigating the matter.
