Ex-cop called to lead defence at trial for shooting teen in mouth

Franz Paul, the former police cadet officer charged with shooting teenager Alex Griffith in his mouth in 2014 during a game of Russian roulette, was yesterday called upon to lead a defence at his trial.

The decision was made by trial magistrate Fabayo Azore, who stated that based on evidence led she found that there was sufficient evidence to have him lead a defence.

Paul’s attorney requested an adjournment to prepare his defence. This request was granted by the magistrate, who then adjourned the matter to June 22.

Paul, of Lot 189 Freeman Street, East La Penitence, was charged with shooting then 15-year-old Griffith in his mouth on April 30, 2014 at Georgetown.
