Autopsy awaited on body of woman at Vreed-en-Hoop

Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how an unidentified woman, whose partially decomposed body was found at a dam in Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara on Tuesday, died.

When contacted by Stabroek News yesterday afternoon, Divisional Commander Leslie James said that the discovery was made around 7:30 am on Tuesday.

He said while foul play is not suspected, since the body bore no visible marks of violence, an autopsy will determine the cause of death.

Stabroek News understands that the police received a call on Tuesday morning informing them that the body of the female was discovered at a dam in Vreed-en-Hoop.

At the time of the discovery, the body was fully clothed. Among the items discovered around the corpse was a medical document. While the document bore a name, the police were up to yesterday afternoon trying to determine if that was the name of the person who was found dead.
