Belle West woman dies after car hits Liliendaal Bridge

The Police say they are investigating a fatal accident which occurred about 23:40h last night on the Liliendaal Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara that resulted in the death of Debra Pompey, 36 years of 473 Belle West Housing Scheme, Canal No. 2, Polder, West Bank Demerara. Investigation revealed that Motor Car PSS 7195 with six female occupants including Pompey, was proceeding west along the southern driveway allegedly at a fast rate when the driver lost control of the vehicle which collided with the southern rail of the Liliendaal Bridge.

The following persons, police say, have been admitted at GPHC: Rodlyn Grace, 20, of 24 Blygezeight Gardens; Shameica Martin, 18,of 84 Sideline Dam, Beterverwagting ECD; Tenisha Hubbert, 26, of 473 Belle West H/S, Canal No. 2, Polder, WBD; Saskiya Boyer, 30,of 228 Lodge, Georgetown and Petona Welcome, 27,of 391 Austin Street, Campbellville, Georgetown. The driver, 28, of Princes and Chapel streets, Lodge was tested and found to be above the legal alcohol limit. He is in custody assisting with the investigation.
