The juvenile correctional facility, the New Opportunity Corps (NOC) will now come under the Ministry of Social Protection and not the Ministry of Education.
This was revealed in a press release on Saturday from the Social Protection Ministry.
On Saturday, the release said that Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally and Minister of Education, Nicollete Henry visited the facility at Onderneeming, Essequibo for the official transition.
Over the years, the NOC has been racked by problems including a mass breakout and fire in 2012.
