Charlestown youth refused bail on armed robbery charge

A young miner was yesterday remanded to prison on an armed robbery charge after a city court heard that he had been positively identified by the victim.

Hodge denied that on July 4, at Cooper Street, Albouystown, being armed with a gun, he robbed Patrick Dundas of a quantity of gold jewellery, valued at $345,000.
Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore objected to bail on the grounds that the accused had been on the run. He said too that Hodge was also positively identified by the victim.
Hodge was subsequently refused bail and the matter was adjourned to August 11.
