Army intercepts 210 lbs cocaine in Pomeroon River

Charges are expected to be laid against two men this week following the interception of a vessel carrying 95.45kg of cocaine by the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Coast Guard on Monday in the Pomeroon River, Essequibo.

According to the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU)  in a release, the coast guard ranks who were on patrol came upon the vessel offshore and the men subsequently attempted to flee.
