Victory Valley miner jailed for five years over gun, ammo

Kellon Mc Leod,  also known as ‘Pinny’, 29 years, a miner of Victory Valley, Wismar, Linden who was found in possession of a .38 revolver and seven matching rounds early Wednesday morning in Mackenzie, appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Wales Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning and pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition without licence.

A statement from the police said that he was sentenced to five years imprisonment on each charge which will run concurrently.

Meanwhile, the statement said that police ranks acting on information went to a house at Annandale, ECD, about 11 45 am yesterday and conducted a search during which they found two hundred and eighteen live rounds of .45 and 9mm ammunition.

A 46-year-old fisherman is in custody assisting with the investigation.
