Man who escaped from GPHC found hiding in barrel at Agricola

Marlon Jeffrey who escaped from the GPHC while under police guard, was this morning recaptured at a house in Brutus Street, Agricola, the police said in a statement today.

Four persons, inclusive of two females who were in the house, have been taken into custody.  Jeffrey was found hiding in a barrel.

Jeffrey, 18, a mason of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, was in custody following a police operation in Agricola, East Bank Demerara, on July 11. According to Commander of ‘A’ Division Marlon Chapman, the young man was held in connection with discharging a loaded firearm at the police.

Jeffrey, who was shot several times allegedly by the police during the operation was taken to the GPHC where he remained a patient until he escaped around 2 am on July 19.
