Opposition queries benefit of PM’s overseas travels

Since assuming office, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo has taken several overseas trips and the opposition People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) would like government to provide a cost benefit analysis of this travel.

Opposition Chief Whip Gail Teixeira has served notice to the National Assembly three questions in relation to benefits Guyana stands to gain from overseas trips undertaken by Nagamootoo and his delegations.

Teixeira has directed her questions to leader of the government side of the House, Nagamootoo himself.

They ask the PM to identify the immediate and medium term benefits to Guyana associated with each of the overseas trips he has undertaken between taking office on May 16, 2015 to July 1, 2017.

Teixeira also asks that the actual benefits Guyana has gained in 2017 from each of the overseas trips be identified and that the costs associated with each overseas trip, including size and members of the delegations, including spouses, undertaken by the Prime Minister and his delegations for the same period be made public.
