Suspect in custody over E-Networks robbery

A male suspect is currently in police custody as the investigation into the robbery at E-Networks’ Cornelia Ida store continues, according to Commander of ‘D’ Division Leslie James.

James when contacted for a comment on Saturday afternoon told Stabroek News that the suspect was arrested on Thursday. He remains in custody and is assisting with investigations.

Two armed bandits invaded the E-Networks, West Coast Demerara store at around 11.45am on Thursday and robbed two cashiers and seven customers of their valuables before fleeing the scene in a car.

The attack was the second on the company’s branches in less than 24 hours. As a result, the company’s management and police had said that they believed both attacks were carried out by the same persons.

The police had said that the suspects acted in the same way as those who robbed the Mon Repos Mall, East Coast Demerara branch on Wednesday afternoon.
