The Guyana Oil Company (Guyoil) yesterday commissioned new fuel tankers that are expected to make its fuel delivery operations fully self-reliant.
“Our promise to customers is delivery under 24 hours, once you place your order. With these additions, it will help us beat that easily,” acting Chief Executive Officer Reggie Balgobin said at a commissioning ceremony at Guyoil’s Providence, East Bank Demerara terminal yesterday, while noting that the company sourced the vehicles to improve its delivery time and customer service relations.
12Balgobin disclosed that three new tankers were sourced from the United States at a total cost of approximately $160 million.
He said one has been sent to the Guyoil terminal in Berbice and the remaining two would operate from the terminal at Providence. The newest additions bring the total number of tankers in the company’s fleet to 15.
Balgobin explained that prior to the arrival of the three tankers, the company was using its own vehicles as well as contracted vehicles to assist with its deliveries. However, he said the new tankers would make it fully self-reliant and customers can expect to see drastic improvements in the company’s delivery times.
He added that the new tankers have a capacity of some 23,000 litres and are built to the international safety standards.
