Sophia man remanded on ganja trafficking charge

A Sophia man has been remanded to prison on a ganja trafficking charge.

Omawali Caesar, 42, of 1235 Section ‘B,’ Sophia, yesterday stood before Magistrate Judy Latchman in Georgetown and was read a charge that stated that on August 18, at Broad Street, Charlestown, he had 96 grammes of cannabis in his possession for trafficking.

Caesar, 42, entered a not guilty plea.

Police Prosecutor Adduni Inniss had objected to the accused being granted bail on the grounds of the seriousness and nature of the offence. She further told the court that the substance was found at the accused’s abode. Magistrate Latchman subsequently remanded Caesar to prison and the matter is scheduled to be heard on September 11.
