East R’veldt man wounded cousin who refused to him lend bike

Michael Hossanah

An East Ruimveldt man was yesterday charged with hitting his cousin in the face with a glass bottle, resulting in stiches.

It is alleged that Michael Hossanah unlawfully and maliciously wounded Rawle Welcome on August 27, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, after the man denied him the use of a motorcycle.

According to police prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves, the wounding took place at Hossanah’s home, where Welcome was visiting.

On Welcome’s arrival, the prosecutor noted, Hossanah asked to use his motorcycle.

Welcome refused, he added, and this led to the defendant lashing him to his face with a glass bottle.

Welcome, who was present at Hossanah’s arraignment, told the court that he had to receive about seven to eight stitches.

Magistrate Judy Latchman subsequently granted Hossanah his release on $100,000 bail and adjourned the matter to September 15, when it will be heard by Magistrate Leron Daly.
