Man shot after asking ganja smoker to move

A man was shot yesterday after he tried to drive off another man who was smoking ganja next to him.

The shooting occurred at around 5.30 yesterday afternoon at Friendship South, East Coast Demerara.

The injured man, identified as Kwisan Lewis, was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was treated and discharged. He was shot in the left elbow.

Police, in a brief statement last night, said that Lewis had asked the suspect to move as he was smoking cannabis next to him.

Annoyed by the request, the suspect drew a handgun and discharged three rounds at Lewis before escaping in a car.

This publication was told that Lewis was picked up by a taxi taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
