Peruvian national accused of overstaying

A Peruvian national was yesterday remanded to prison after he denied a charge that he overstayed his time in Guyana.

Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read the charge to Manuel Fernandez, 52.

The charge, which was translated for Fernandez, stated that having been permitted to stay in Guyana from March 4 to June 3, 2017, he overstayed.

After he pleaded not guilty, Fernandez was remanded to prison until today, when the matter will be heard at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court.
