(Reuters) – A weather system about 655 miles (1,055
km) west-southwest of the Cabo Verde islands has strengthened to become Tropical Storm Lee, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said today.
The storm had maximum sustained winds 40 miles per hour and was moving northwest at 9 miles per hour, the NHC said at 11 a.m. EDT (1500 EDT).
