Caretaker ‘goes off’ and does $1M in damage to Harmon’s property

A man was sentenced to prison yesterday after he admitted to causing almost one million dollars in damage to a property owned by Minister of State Joseph Harmon.

Harmon suffered the loss of $995,000 due to damage to his property at Lot 136, Mazaruni Street, Guyhoc Park, on September 15th, 2017.

The accused, Samuel Greene who resides at 99, Guyhoc Park, pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Fabayo Azore.

The prosecutor told the court that Greene had been placed to watch over the property and keep it tidy.

She said that on September 15th 2017 at 15:00 hours, Greene was seen with a metal bar, lashing the house, including the windows and other parts.

The police were notified, and Greene was arrested and later cautioned by the police.

Green, who kept laughing in court, appeared unsettled and told the magistrate that at times he would “go off”.

He was then sentenced to six months in prison.
