Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central hosts El Dorado Quest

A grand prize worth over $100,000 will be up for grabs today when the Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central (RCGC) hosts “The El Dorado Quest: Secrets of the 592.”

A press release issued by the RCGC described the fundraising event as part “Scavenger Hunt,” part “Amazing Race,” and said it would test the brains and brawn of several registered teams of contestants through four rounds of challenges across the environs of Georgetown.

RCGC President Asa Stuart-Shepherd said the project is one which is seeking to fill the long-present gap in Guyana’s landscape for youth-friendly entertainment and recreation. “Our club is always looking to undertake projects that are fun and different but we always keep in mind the kind of value it can add to communities,” he was quoted as saying. “We’re a club full of vibrant young persons so we know the sort of events that we ourselves would participate in and we try to execute those kinds of projects, while also keeping in mind our goal to fund projects that will meaningfully impact the communities we serve, such as our upcoming blood drive,” he added.

The release said first prize includes dining packages from The Publik and Grand Coastal restaurants, Go-Karting Experience at GT Motorsports, swimming classes with Silver Shark Aquatic Swim Club, pool passes at the Ramada Georgetown Princess Hotel, and movie vouchers. Consolation prizes are also up for grabs.

It added that a prize-giving ceremony and “lime,” organised in collaboration with the 704 Sports Bar, would be held after the event.
