Man dies after Pomeroon River mishap

A boat mishap along the Pomeroon River last Friday has resulted in the death of a man.

Stabroek News was reliably informed that about 5 am last Friday a paddle boat and a speed boat, which were heading in different directions, collided in the vicinity of Martindale, Pomeroon River.

According to the information supplied, the paddle boat, which was carrying five persons was in the vicinity of Grand Hanover, Pomeroon River when a speed boat caused a wave which capsized it. This caused two of the men from the paddle boat to fall into the water.

While one of the men was able to swim to a nearby landing the other went under.

The remaining three men were able to balance the boat and later made checks for the individual who went under the water but were unsuccessful.

The police found the body on Saturday.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Suddie Mortuary.
