A man was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged with the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Travis Moore stood in the courtroom of Magistrate Leron Daly who read two charges.
The first charge alleged that on October 12, at Hunter Street, Albouystown, he had a .38 revolver in his possession without being the holder of a firearm licence.
It is also alleged that on the said date and at the same location, he had five rounds of .38 ammunition without being the holder of a firearm licence.
Moore denied both charges.
According to the prosecutor, on the day in question the accused was travelling in motor vehicle PTT 5158, which was stopped by the police in Albouystown, and all the occupants were searched. The prosecutor added, that as a result of the search, the defendant was found with the firearm and ammunition.
The court heard that Moore also gave a caution statement to the police admitting to the crime.
As a result, Magistrate Daly remanded the accused to prison and adjourned the matter to October 30 when it will be heard by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
