Police constable remanded for firearm, ammo

A police constable was yesterday remanded to prison after he was accused of having a firearm and several rounds of ammunition in his possession.

Kwesi Maloney is accused of being in possession of a 5.7 X 28 mm pistol, on October 12, at the 44 (East Coast) minibus park, without being the owner of a firearm licence.

A second charge read stated that the accused on the said date had 19 live 5.9 x 28 ammunition in his possession without being a licensed firearm holder.

Finally, Maloney is accused of having in his possession seven 8mm spent shells.

According to the prosecutor, the accused was found with the firearm in his possession.

Maloney was remanded to prison by the Magistrate and will make his next court appearance before Magistrate Judy Latchman on October 30.
