Georgetown Chamber signs MOU with Indian exporters

President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI),  Deodat Indar, recently attended the Havana Internal Fair (FIHAV) 35 in Havana, Cuba, where a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the GCCI and Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO).

A release from the Chamber said that with the signing of the MOU, both organizations have agreed to promote the development of projects and trade in sectors of mutual interest such as renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, tourism, construction,  the agro-processing industry and the film industry.

President of the Federation of Indian Export Organizations, Ganesh Kumar Gupta, stated his willingness to work closely with the GCCI to explore synergies and linkages that would be mutually beneficial to the growth and development of both countries. The GCCI release said that the MOU opens the avenue to Guyana benefitting from India’s  expertise in the oil and gas industry having one of the largest oil refineries in the world.

The Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu, was pleased with this new development, the release said. The Indian High Commissioner to Cuba,  Tsewang Namgyal, expressed his appreciation for the signing of the MOU between the private sector of India and Guyana.

The GCCI also signed a MOU with the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba.
