Kitty man cleared in $10M land fraud case

A Kitty man, who was charged last year with falsely obtaining $10 million to purchase a plot of land, had the case dismissed on Monday after the prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence.

It was alleged that Rajesh Sahadeo on September 7, 2015, at Georgetown, conspired to obtain $10 million from Lloyd Singh by way of a Republic Bank cheque, on the pretence that he knew Shaneann Boston, also known as Venice La Rose, was in the position to sell a plot of land at Peters Hall, East Bank Demerara.

Trial Magistrate Leron Daly dismissed the case after finding that there was insufficient evidence to find the accused guilty of the crime.
