Accused of $500,000 theft, Jones granted $50,000 bail

Vishal Jones

A man was yesterday granted bail, after he was accused of breaking into a home and stealing over $500,000 worth of items.

It is alleged that Vishal Jones, 27, broke and entered the home of Michel Machado, between October 25, and November, 14, at 114 George Street, Werk en Rust, and stole a pair of night vision goggles, valued at US$750, a bag of clothing, four radiators and other items. The total value of all the stolen articles is $549,000.

Jones denied the allegation levelled against him.

The prosecution then made no objection to bail being granted, and added that the file in relation to the matter is incomplete.

Magistrate Fabayo Azore subsequently granted the accused $50,000 bail, and adjourned the matter to November 27.
