A man was yesterday charged with the possession of an unlicensed AR-15 rifle, which police seized during an operation in the city on Thursday afternoon.

David Nelson, 52, of 199 B Church Street, South Cummingsburg, denied the charge that on November 9, at Georgetown, he had the Palmetto .32 calibre rifle, without being the holder of a firearm licence.

Although police, in a statement on the bust yesterday, noted that the man was a licensed firearm holder, he was not licensed to have possession of the rifle.
