Revised operating schedule for water taxis

The Transport and Harbours Department has announced that all water taxis (with/without sheds) engaged in public transportation will only be allowed to operate from 5.30 am to 5.30 pm, with the exception of those operating on the Demerara River, between Georgetown and Vreed-en-Hoop.

A notice to mariners from the acting Harbour Master, which has been published in the daily newspapers, says those water taxis ferrying passengers between Georgetown and Vreed-en-Hoop would be permitted to operate from 5.30 am to 8 pm.

The notice says the operating schedule will be in effect until it is otherwise amended by the Maritime Administration Department. It adds that failure by water taxis to comply could lead to immediate revocation of licences.
