Brazilian national remanded over bullet possession

A Brazilian national was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged with being in possession of a bullet.

Joao Figuereido was read the charge by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, with the aid of a Portuguese interpreter.

It is alleged that Figuereido, 23, had in his possession a 20 gauge cartridge, on November 7, at Back Street, Tabatinga, Central Rupununi, without being a licensed firearm holder.

The accused, a construction worker pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate McLennan later remanded the accused to prison, and adjourned the matter to December 5, when it will be called at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court.
