Teen pandit succumbs after traffic accident

A teenage pandit succumbed to his injuries yesterday afternoon, more than a week after he was involved in an accident along the Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).

Dead is Gansham Lekhram, 19, a resident of Zeelugt, EBE.

Lekhram reportedly sustained massive internal and head injuries and was admitted as a patient in the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he succumbed around 1pm yesterday. He was on a life support machine.

According to reports reaching Stabroek News, Lekhram was proceeding in motor car, PVV 648, east along the southern side of the public road when he suddenly veered across to the southern side and collided with a utility pole.

Information revealed that at the time of the accident, Lekhram was returning home after dropping off his friends in Parika, EBE. He was the lone occupant of the car.

The young pandit was a well-known individual. As the news of his death spread, a number of persons expressed their shock and condolences on Facebook.
