Accused cocaine smuggler freed after court finds insufficient evidence

Jenny Ann Crawford, the woman who was charged with the possession of a quantity of cocaine that was hidden in the handle of her suitcase at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), was freed yesterday after a city magistrate found that there was insufficient evidence against her.

Crawford had denied the charge that she on August 4, 2016, at the CJIA, had 410 grammes of cocaine in her possession for trafficking.

Trial Magistrate Leron Daly dismissed the charge against Crawford after examining the evidence of the prosecutor’s witnesses and finding that insufficient evidence was presented to the court.

Crawford was represented by attorney Eusi Anderson.

At her arraignment, the court had been told that Crawford was given the drugs by an individual, also who gave her the suitcase to travel with.
