Contract of $57.5M awarded for immigration buildings at Ordinance Fortlands

Government has moved one step closer to fulfilling its promise of making government services more readily available to residents of Berbice, according to Minister of State Joseph Harmon.

Harmon told reporters last Thursday at a post-Cabinet press conference that Cabinet has granted a no-objection to a $57,553,455 contract for the construction of immigration buildings at tract ‘MC’ Ordinance Fortlands, Berbice. The contract, which was awarded to M and P Investments by the Ministry of Citizenship, was one of several granted no-objections at last Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.

Harmon explained that the new office, which will be located in a central part of Corentyne between New Amsterdam and Corriverton, is a partial fulfilment of a commitment made to provide better facilities to Berbice.
