Britannia man dies after vehicle crashes into utility pole

A 38-year-old West Coast Berbice (WCB) resident was pronounced dead on arrival at the Fort Wellington Hospital after the motor pickup he was travelling in, crashed into a utility pole yesterday.

The man has been identified as Deodat Outar called Randy of 272 Britannia Village, WCB while the driver Sanjay Ramlochan, 37, of # 30 Village, WCB is currently hospitalised. Ramlochan is at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

Police last night said that at about 3 pm yesterday, Ramlochan who was driving the pickup, GHH 768, was reportedly speeding east along the northern carriageway of the Ross Public Road, WCB when he lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the utility post. At the time of the accident, Outar was sitting in the front passenger seat.

Investigations are in progress.
