Construction worker remanded on attempted murder, armed robbery charges

A construction worker was remanded to prison last Friday on charges of attempted murder and armed robbery.

City magistrate Judy Latchman read the two charges to Lennox Cort when he was brought before her.

The first charge stated that June 19th, 2016, at South Ruimveldt, he discharged a loaded firearm at Jamal Lewis with intent murder him.

It was also alleged that on the said date and at the same location, while armed with a gun, Cort robbed Jarm Persaud of a Samsung Galaxy S4, valued at $80,000.

Cort subsequently denied both charges. He was then remanded to prison until November 30.

Cort is presently facing two similar charges before magistrate Leron Daly.
