A 25-year-old plumber was yesterday charged with carjacking an Indian national in an attack along the seawall public road.
It was alleged that John Glenn on November 3rd, armed with a knife and in the company of another man who had a gun, robbed Harjeet Singh Lakha of a $1.8 million Toyota Premio, bearing licence PNN 3428, a $23,000 cellphone and $12,200 cash. Singh had parked the car on the Seawall Public Road and went for a walk with his wife along the seawall. However, after they returned to the vehicle, they were attacked by two bandits, who were both armed. The men relieved them of the keys to the car and other valuables. Glenn pleaded not guilty to the charge after it was read to him in the city court of Magistrate Judy Latchman.
The prosecutor objected to bail being granted based on the seriousness of the offence and the fact that a weapon was used in the attack.
Magistrate Latchman denied bail and remanded Glenn to prison until December 11th, when the next hearing is slated.
