BK purchases US$3m in equipment for sea defence project

Heavy-duty construction equipment with a total value of about US$3 million was purchased by BK International Inc. and handed over to the company yesterday by Renger Van Dijk at Farm Supplies Ltd. at Ruimzigt, East Bank Demerara.

A release from BK International yesterday said that the  DOOSAN heavy-duty equipment includes eight excavators, two barges and three off-road high-capacity quarry trucks.

The release said that the equipment was sourced by BK International Inc. for work on the Caribbean Development Bank project – Sea and River Defence Resilience Project – Lot 2, which covers Crane/Harlem/Rotterdam/Mary on the West Coast of Demerara in Region 3. The contract is valued at US$5 million and should run for 18 months.
