Court grants cops more time to question suspect in school teacher’s murder

Kescia Branche

The police were yesterday granted approval to further extend the detention of Matthew Munroe, the owner of the car that is suspected to be linked to the murder of school teacher Kescia Branche.

Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Police Force Jairam Ramlakhan told Stabroek News that police applied to the High Court yesterday for an extension to keep Munroe in custody for further questioning and were granted an additional 48 hours.

Munroe, who left the country the day after Branche’s unconscious body was discovered, was arrested after returning to the country last week.
