Statements were yesterday served to the two policemen who are charged with the murder of businessman Godfrey Scipio called ‘Sagga’.
The charge against Detective Corporal Derwin Eastman and Constable Jamenson Williams states that on October 12, at Stanley Place and David Street, Kitty, they murdered Scipio in the course or furtherance of a robbery.
Williams’ attorney, Dexter Todd, yesterday asked for the statements that are available to be served so they can correctly approach the High Court with the matter Williams and Eastman are to return to court on December 22nd for the further disclosure of statements.
It was previously reported that Scipio, of Lot ‘ZZ’ 22 D’Urban Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, was shot once in his abdomen during the fatal attack at Stanley Place, Kitty.
The police, in a statement, said that initial investigations revealed that Scipio and a female companion had just exited a city hotel and were entering his vehicle when a lone gunman attacked them, demanding cash and jewellery.
The police said the suspect discharged a round, hitting Scipio in the abdomen, then relieved him of his jewellery and escaped on foot.
On October 17, another man, Aubrey Bobb, was also charged and remanded over the murder of Scipio.
