Bail for fisheries duo for alleged Christmas tree ratchet straps theft

Two young men were yesterday placed on $75,000 bail each for a charge of theft from a Christmas tree.

It is alleged that Trevon Williams and Shemron Poyer, between December 1st and 2nd, at Rahaman’s Park, stole nine ratchet straps, valued at over $100,000.

Williams of Rahaman’s Park and Poyer of Meadow Bank, who are both workers at Guyana Fisheries, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Fabayo Azore, placed them on $75,000 bail each and adjourned the matter to January 10th, 2018.

The theft of the straps has been linked to the collapse last week of the Christmas tree.
