‘Santa’ who stormed Parliament Chambers still elusive

Despite the severe breach of security, the police are yet to apprehend the woman dressed in a Santa suit who stormed into Parliament Chambers on Friday.

The woman managed to get into the building without being challenged and was able to flee despite the fact that there were security personnel and parliament staff present.

The intrusion and escape have raised questions about the type of security at Parliament and whether there was even any interest in apprehending the perpetrator.

Police Public Relations Officer, Jairam Ramlakhan said that an investigation was launched but that the woman had not been apprehended. After fleeing Parliament Buildings, the woman made her way down Hadfield Street before turning into High Street and disappearing.

Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo was speaking at the time the `Santa’ entered the Chambers. She was carrying a dictionary which suggests that she was making a point about the placard that Jagdeo had brandished in Parliament last month with the word divide incorrectly spelt as `devide’.
