Fatal injuries to Triumph girl inflicted with blunt object – autopsy

Eighteen-year-old Ranella Benfield whose body was discovered in a cemetery at Triumph, East Coast Demerara on Monday died as a result of crushing injuries to her face which were inflicted by a blunt object.

A police source yesterday confirmed the findings with Stabroek News following a post-mortem examination which was performed by Government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary.

The report, according to the source also indicated that Benfield was alive when the injuries were inflicted and that she was not raped.
