Vreed-en-Hoop truck driver shot

Police in the northwest  are on the hunt for a man who shot a truck driver leaving him battling for his life in the Intensive Care Unit of the Suddie Public Hospital. The shooting occurred at Buck Hall on the Essequibo River.

According to the police, Osafo Roberts, 26, a truck driver of 61 New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara is in a serious but stable condition, nursing a gunshot injury to his abdomen.

Police said at around 00.05 yesterday morning, Roberts was leaving the business place of his employer, which is located at Jamakie, Buck Hall, Essequibo River, when he was confronted and shot by a man, who was armed with a handgun.

The suspect after the shooting, police said fled the scene. The motive for the shooting remains unclear and police said investigations are continuing.
